Biography:
Hello, my name is Robby, and I am a sable and white rough coat Collie boy. I was rescued from a kill shelter in AR on August 9, 2009. I am so happy to be alive and be in a great foster home in Texarkana. I’m 10 1/2 years old, my birthday is March 9, 2009. I weigh 47 pounds, but I have heartworms and will have to go through treatment after I gain some weight. I am living with Lizzy, my life-long friend. I sure hope we can stay together since we have never been apart and are very close. Since I had many mats in my hair they shaved me so now I have to get all my beautiful hair to grow back again so I will look handsome again like I used to. But until then I have to look this way which I really don’t like. My foster mom says I’m a really sweet loving boy, and she is really enjoying fostering Lizzy and me.
09/22/2009: (Update from his foster mom) He is mostly potty trained. He doesn’t know how to let anyone know he needs to go out, so he needs to be let out a few times in a day, and maybe once at night. He is afraid of storms, but cuddling close to his person soothes his nerves. The ideal home would be a retired home with no other dogs, with the exception of his “sister” Lizzy. He doesn’t mind other dogs, but he doesn’t interact with others. He just doesn’t like to share human attention. He is wonderful with kids and has proven himself around an 18 month old boy. He is not very active so this guy may not be great for anyone with an active lifestyle. Neither Lizzy or Robby like cats very much.
11/15/2009: Robby is doing very well at his foster parents, but tomorrow is time to go back to the vet and see if he is ready for his heartworm treatment. We are all praying for you and Lizzy to come through this without any problems.
12/11/2009: Robby will soon be having his second heartworm treatment. He has done very well during this 30 days and will have to be very quiet for the next 30 days after his next treatment. Robby’s coat is coming in so nice that he is really going to be a gorgeous Collie boy when is coat is all back. We are praying for you to come through this next 30 days without any problems. After this he will be neutered and then he ready to go to his new forever home. He and Lizzy are very dependent on each other so we are hoping someone will open up their hearts and home to both of them together.
3/1/2010: Robby has come through his second heartworm treatment very well. Since he is being fostered in Texaraka I hadn’t met him until yesterday, and I was so impressed with Robby. He is one sweet love bug and has turned out beautiful. You wouldn’t know he is going to be 11 years on March 9. He gets along well, can see well and is a great Collie boy. Both he and Lizzy will soon be coming to the Houston area so we will be able to give people a chance to meet them. Once you meet them you will fall in love with these two special Collies.
5/16/2010: Robby left Texarkana last Saturday, May 8th, and is now in the Houston area along with Lizzy. Last Tuesday was a day of beauty for them at the groomer and they are beautiful now with their hair grown back from being shaved. On Wednesday they went to the vet for a check up and teeth cleaning. During the exam the vet found a tumor in Robby's colon so Thursday the vet did surgery to remove the tumor along with neutering him and cleaning his teeth. This poor boy got the works and is now recovering. He is such a sweet and gentle Collie boy and you wouldn't know that he is 11 years old by the way he acts. He walks great on a leash, minds very well, and has a great personality - totally sweet.
7/27/2010: Robby has found his forever home along with Lizzy. He has recovered from his surgery and is doing just fine. They are living in San Antonio with their foster parents who have adopted them. They are really coming out of their shells and playing and enjoying life now that they feel more secure. Robby and Lizzy are two gentle and sweet beautiful collies that have surely been through a lot and no doubt deserve this wonderful home with this great mom and dad. Congratulations sweet Robby and Lizzy, you have a special place in our hearts. We love you both.
