Biography:
Miss Tess is a gorgeous mahogany and white little girl between six and seven years old and weighs 45 pounds. Her coat is so soft and very pretty. She has always lived outside in a pen until Januaray 31, 2009, when her owner decided it was time to give her a better life. Now she is in the house most of the time, although she did figure out the doggy door very quickly and likes the option of being inside or outside. She is very timid and shy since she hasn’t had much interaction with people during her life. She is very, very sweet and is finding out how great it is to be loved and get a lot of attention, good food, and her own bed to sleep on. She doesn’t really play too much with toys as I doubt she has ever had any, but every so often she will pick up one of the stuffed animals, squeak it and carry it around a little while. So far we haven’t heard her bark at all. She is making improvements daily and is starting to trust us much more and not be afraid. Tess does come when called and walks well on a leash. She also rides well in the car. She wasn’t house broken when she came to us, but she hasn’t had an accident in the house for several days now. She gets along with her new foster brothers and sisters and runs in the backyard a little with them. Most of the time she is laying right by her foster mom. Tess is a very quiet and laid-back girl. She has been spayed and her first heartworm treatment. She will probably have her second treatment within a week or so. She can’t go to her forever home until she has recovered from all her treatments. She is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations and has been fully checked out by our vet.
Update: Tess has fully recovered from her heartworm treatments, but her doctor believes she is in the beginning stages of Kidney Failure. She has to be on a special Kidney Diet (Hills ‘KD’) and that’s all. She is doing very well on it and her Kidney levels have improved with this diet.
11/1/2009: Tess has been adopted by her foster parents. She has come a long way since coming to us. She is still quite reserved but is now playing with her foster brothers and sisters and feeling much more comfortable and at home. Since it has taken so long to get her this far, her foster parents can’t send her away to another home for fear of a set back. So the very best for Tess is to make her foster home her forever home. Welcome sweet Tess. I believe you knew all along you were in your forever home.
