Tom Finen

Thomas L. Finen, 72, passed away peacefully at the Heartland in Houston on August 2, 2010 after a two month battle with lung cancer.

Tom is survived by Marie, his wife, daughter Mishelle (Mickey), son-in-law Keith Hendershot, and his sister Helen Todd, who lives in up-state New York.

Tow was born in Utica, New York. He worked in the grocery business for over
56 years!

He loved being involved and helping to rescue Collies and being part of their lives. Marie and Tom have adopted five Collies (Lady, Britt, Lady Jess, King Truman, Blaze Man, and Mandy) since 2001. Their Collies are known as the Fab 5. Tom bought Marie her first Collie named Coppy, for a wedding gift
51 years ago. He had never had a pet until he got Coppy because his parents werent animal lovers. Coppy was the beginning of a whole life filled with Collies.

He will be missed greatly by all-his family, his dogs, and his friends. Tom
was such a kind, gentle, and nice man. He was a man who was highly
thought of and respected. He was always so pleasant and a joy to be around.

He will be sharing his life with Lady Jess, one of their Collies who went to Rainbow Bridge on August 9 from Liver Cancer at the age of 9.

Although Tom left us much too soon, we will remember him always!

If Tears Could Build A Stairway

If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again
No Farewell words were spoken
No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
And only God knows why.

My heart's still active in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.

God knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet Him.
I Knew you for a Moment
